I didn't know what to expect when I got to this school. Personal dealings had put me in a state of mind where I was closed off. I didn't think I would have come so far personally and professionally without you for a teacher. You made me laugh when I didn't want to and learn while having fun. Your laugh is addictive. I can't thank you enough.

At the age of 43, I made a career/lifestyle change and decided to go for my constant and very old dream of becoming a massage therapist. THANKFULLY, I chose The Tennessee School of Therapeutic Massage ( or should i say, they chose me)!! The schedule fits my day to day life and the faculty is adept at teaching in many styles to an impressive variance of students. My class consists of new adults fresh from high to school to old foagies like myself and the instructors have been able to accommodate all of us with ease.
I thought going back to school would be a REAL challenge, it has been a while since I last studied.. to my delight, NO PROBLEM! The lectures are engaging and the effervescent and helpful instructors are easy to understand. This is coupled with a curriculum that includes extras such as online support and DVD instruction. Not only am I learning the science of massage but I am also learning how to set up a business in the real world. BUT, most importantly, this is a HANDS-ON school. We were learning techniques the first week!!!
I feel confident that I will emerge a learned and self- assured massage therapist set up with the knowledge to create my own practice.
Thanks George, Lorie and all at TSTM! I could not ask for more.

Lorie, I wanted to tell you just how amazingly inspiring you have been to me. I wasn't even sure on the first day if massage was going to be something I would even enjoy doing, and now I absolutely LOVE it! I was so scared about learning all the complicated anatomy stuff too, but you have such an incredible gift for teaching, that you made something that would have seemed impossibly difficult to do on my own, SO much easier. I really don't know how I would have made it through school without having someone so encouraging, and positive, and FUNNY like you there to make it so much fun. People say the nicest things behind your back... You are so loved Lorie! You are amazing! I feel so blessed to have not only have been able to learn from you, but also to know you.

I would have to say that massage has always been something I have been told I was good at and why don’t I pursue it as a career? Even though it was just a shoulder rub or a foot massage at the time, my family enjoyed them none the less. When I got into college I tried different careers like Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy etc.. don’t get me wrong they are good careers, but anyone who knows me, will say that I'm not one to want to stay in school the rest of my life to get a degree. I have always disliked school didn’t really wanna go to college, but knew that I had to if I wanted a good job. Then one day I heard an advertisement for Tennessee School of Therapeutic Massage, and I thought wow maybe I should try it and see what it is like. I figured it wouldn’t hurt only a 24 week school right up my ally (so to speak). So I called and talked to Erica and she told me things that I needed to do first, like financial aid, and transcripts etc… so after I got all that done I went in a filled out an application, and got talk to Erica about the school, and ask some questions. Then a couple days later she called and said I would be receiving a packet with things that would have to be done when I came for orientation. Then the big day came it was the end of August and there were 14 of us in the room, who didn’t know a thing about each other, or how close we all would become. I met our instructor/director of the school Lorie, and George. They seemed to be very nice and outgoing. Then the other instructor Janna who would be our teacher the last half of the term.. From that day on I can honestly say that I am so glad that I heard that advertisement and followed my instincts and applied. I love school now, I can’t wait to get up during the week and go to school even though it's a 45 min drive. I love the people I go to school with they are a great group. Everyone has their own uniqueness to them. The staff is great, they all have their ways of making you feel like you belong there. Then clinic day arrives and we get our first clients. which I have to say I was very nervous, but after the first one, it just seemed natural to me. Now, a little over a month from now we will be graduating and starting our careers. I am so excited, I love massage. I think everyone was put on the earth to do something and for me its massage. I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t know what path they want to take in life, come to TSTM it's an experience like you wouldn’t believe.
